More than half of our policyholders are women, who are making the right decision to get covered

August is Women’s month and considering that more than half of our active policyholders are female, we’ll take this opportunity to commend your strength and unwavering ability to put on your superhero capes and do what needs to be done, every single day.  We’d also love to give you a round of applause for making the right decision to get yourselves covered.

It’s not the 1960s anymore and women don’t meekly stand around barefoot waiting for their hubbies to handle their finances, while they cook a casserole and keep the kids entertained.  In 1956 over 20 000 South African women marched for their freedom and today women are still rising up and claiming their freedom by making clever and responsible financial decisions that their future selves will thank them for.

Did you know that more than 50% of active Stangen policyholders are women?

There are many factors that are contributing to women carrying huge financial responsibilities on their shoulders.  But from our statistics we can see they are carrying it with grace, they are planning for the future and taking their finances seriously and securing them accordingly.

The General Household Survey 2018 by Stats SA revealed that, 43.1 percent of children lived only with their mothers and over a period of 5 years, the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the South African Race Relations Institute (SARRI) carried out research which found that more than 40 percent of South African mothers are single parents.

In 2018 a statistical report on marriages and divorces released by Statistics SA, found that about 4 out of 10 marriages end up in divorce before reaching the 10th year of marriage.  With the number of divorces increasing each year, a lot of women are finding themselves in unchartered waters; taking on new roles and responsibilities, tossing out antiquated ideas and making new and improved plans and financial goals for themselves and their kids.

Whether you are single, married, divorced, a mother or a motherly figure, women nowadays are making sure that their financial house is in order.  Mothers are making sure that their kids will be taken care of in the eventuality of a crisis, by insuring their life, their income and taking out a policy to cover their funeral.

Did you know that we have R5 184 463 079 in active life cover benefits in place right now for South African women across the country!

The expanding “sandwich generation” is another common factor where income earning women are financially supporting their kids and often funding their parents as well.  These women are realising that if something were to happen to them, they need to make sure that they leave behind a life cover policy that can be used to continue supporting both generations.

All of these scenarios are inspiring a lot of women to make sure that all the necessary cover is in place and that in the event of them passing away or becoming too ill to work, that their family would have a safety net to fall back on.

So, here’s to you strong and smart women who always do what needs to be done in order to safeguard your family’s futures.

The Stangen Team salutes you.

    • Woman of substance is woman of power and positive influence. Strong woman is the liveline of her family that carries within her power to endures pain and courage to sacrifice and epitomize.
Being a strong woman is very important to me but doing it all on my own is not. Amassing thing’s happen when women help other women and be successful work towards significant and succeed will naturally follow.
Turn your wounds into wisdom and surround yourself with people who are going to take you higher. The strongest action for woman is to love herself, be herself and shine amongst those who never believe she could.
Thank you for been Part of my journey Stangen
