This is one of those short African proverbs literally meaning “where do you fit in”
This short proverb was always on the tip of my grandmother’s tongue. As a little boy, I would come running to her with a story that I have heard or seen, she would listen attentively and when I am done she would slowly say,
‘Ungenaphi wena lapho? Simple meaning Do I have anything to do with whatever was happening.
I realized later when I was grown up that granny was trying to make me aware of my own things, not just everything around me. Now when I look at it, its simple showed me to stick in my own lane, no gossiping and to gather proper facts before telling any stories.
