Indlela ibuzwa kwabaphambili

‘- Victoria Mbedzi

This African proverb is indelibly written in my heart. I have always learnt that there is so much to learn from those that have experienced life before us or rather those that have already attained some level of knowledge. Personally, the proverb means so much to me because it has taught me humility. It takes humility to recognize and acknowledge that there is always someone out there who knows and does something better than ‘you’ do therefore a need to learn one or two from them. Not only humility but respect for elders whether biological or nonbiological as they are a crucial part of one’s upbringing. The proverb also has a whole lot to do with how important history is for one’s future. Thank you.
